Biography
Beyza Elif Dinçer is a joint PhD candidate in Social Sciences, affiliated with the Centre d'Études de l'Ethnicité et des Migrations (CEDEM) at the University of Liège (ULiège) and the Research for Digitalisation, Diversity, and Democracy (R4D) group at Hasselt University (UHasselt).
She completed her Master¿s degree in Sociology at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in 2022, where she wrote her thesis on ethnic discrimination in Belgian sports clubs. After graduation, she continued researching discrimination using correspondence tests, focusing on the rental and job markets.
Her current doctoral research adopts a multi-level approach to examine how student organizations can promote the inclusion of ethno-racialized students within Belgian higher education institutions. By employing a mixed-method design that combines survey research with ethnographic fieldwork across four case studies in Wallonia and Flanders, this project represents a pioneering effort in Europe to uncover the potential of student organizations in fostering inclusive higher education environments.
